Them: Thanks for calling Verizon business accounts, how can I help you today?
Me: I’d like to set up an account and get a coupla EVDO cards.
Them: Fantastic, just need a little info from you
Me: No problem at all.
Them: Business name?
Me: Bode Media, Inc.
Them: Address?
Me: P.O. Box…
Them: Oh no, we need a physical street address.
Me: Don’t have one. All internet.
Them: Oh. Hmm.. ok, well how about a phone?
Me: Nope. All internet.
Them: Hoo boy, this is going to be fun to get past the credit department. Usually they call the company to confirm who you are.
Me: Well they can just look at our website.
Them: Eeesh, this is going to be difficult. We’re going to need some additional documentation.
Me: e-mail me what you need and I’ll have my lawyer send it right over.
Them: Right. OK then… Um.
Me: So you are sending my stuff?
Them: Yes. Overnight.
Me: Thanks, pleasure doing business with you!

One thing I did to get around this (and it is sort of expensive) is I got a UPS Store box instead of a PO Box. Its usually much more than most PO Boxes - but you get a “suite” number instead of the voodoo “P.O. Box” number. Also then people like FedEx and UPS and the Post Office all deliver there. and credit card companies will let you list that address as a “primary” address.

When I moved to NYC I had a similar issue opening a bank account. I was the only person in my newly opened office but they need to call the office to verify my employment. My solution, I told the lady I’ll run across the street, you call, I’ll pick up and verify my employment and then I’ll run back to the bank and open my account.

Thankfully she just opened an account for me,
